Local Mother and Educator Esther Sekiziyivu Announces City Council Campaign, Pledges to Address Traffic Crisis, Tax Pressures, and Public Safety Concerns

Saratoga Springs, UT — Esther Sekiziyivu, a working mother and financial educator who deals with the same daily challenges facing Saratoga Springs families, today announced her candidacy for City Council with a clear message: she gets it because she lives it.

“I’m not running because I need a political career—I’m running because Saratoga Springs families need someone on the City Council who sits in the same traffic jams, worries about the same safety concerns, and faces the same rising costs that keep neighbors awake at night,” said Sekiziyivu. “While our city has incredible potential, rapid growth is creating real problems that demand immediate attention and proven solutions.”

As a mother raising children in Saratoga Springs, Sekiziyivu experiences firsthand the strain that 30+ new families moving to the city each month places on schools, roads, and public services. Her background as a financial educator has shown her how growth pressures are pricing out teachers, firefighters, and working families who built this community.

Esther Sekiziyivu commits to prioritizing the issues Saratoga Springs voters care about most:

Public Safety First: Ensuring police have adequate resources and staffing to maintain community safety as our population grows

Hold the Line on Taxes: Protecting Saratoga Springs’ 18-year record of no property tax increases while rejecting unrealistic assessments that force families from their homes

Fix Our Transportation Crisis: Investing in infrastructure that keeps families and businesses moving instead of sitting in worsening traffic

Protect Our Schools: Keeping divisive politics out of classrooms while ensuring world-class education funded by smart growth that pays for itself

“Recent tragic events have reminded us that public safety can’t be taken for granted, and without careful planning, rapid growth risks bringing the higher crime rates that often accompany unmanaged expansion,” Sekiziyivu said. “Families didn’t move to Saratoga Springs to compromise on safety, education, or affordability.”

Sekiziyivu’s campaign emphasizes that residents aren’t anti-growth—they want elected officials who will manage growth responsibly while preserving what makes Saratoga Springs special.

“We must safeguard our way of life and ensure that growth enhances rather than diminishes our community,” Sekiziyivu added. “I’m committed to being a voice for families who love this city but worry about whether they’ll be able to afford staying here.”

The general election is scheduled for November 4, 2025, with a primary on August 12, 2025 (if required).
